For Those Hurting, Please be Thankful For What you do Have!

It is so easy for me to dwell on the negative things in my life. When I realize how blessed I am to be alive and in excellent health, then the negative things seem like they can be overcome. Take a good look at the posts on this website. So many stories, so many people hurting in so many ways. Then, go look in the mirror and tell yourself: "My problems are not that bad in relationship to the others!" Get on the Internet or get some books from the Library to learn how so many others in areas such as Africa, India, or Haiti deal with extreme poverty everyday.

Try to focus on solutions to your situation. If you are Christian, Jewish, or other type of religion; fellowship with others at a place of worship. Do you believe in prayer? Pray and ask others to pray with you! If you need help with overcomming an addiction, or other "life issue", get help! There are many types of help. Groups such as AA, NA, Support Groups, and Celebrate Recovery have helped many. Need money and a job? Asking for donations is fine? Maybe try to think of doing a temporary job. I see people every day with Masters Degrees, that can't find work in their profession; the are working any job the can find now.

Beware of Job / Employment Ripoff & Scams!

"Want to make money in TV, Movies, or as an Actor / Extra?"

"Make up to $150,000 a year working from Home!"

"Mystery Shoppers Wanted, earn BIG Money!"

How would you like to make $10,000 per week? Now wait a minitue, HOW? Well listen up boys & girls, please be very careful about responding to ads you see on the internet, TV, hear on the radio, and see in the newspaper. Most, maybe not all are ripoffs and scams. There are many more now, trying to take advantage of Unemployed or otherwise hurting people. Outrageous claims for income, requests for payment of fees or expenses, requirements for getting a credit card number or other private information are a clue that the "job" is really a way of ripping you off! Do not call, reply, fill out an application, pay any money to anyone until you are 100% sure it is a LEGITIMATE JOB! Call your local BBB or Consumer Protection Agency; or check out websites like Ripoff Report, ScamBusters, or ScamWarners.

Educational Opportunities?

 in response to webbtech...

Lisa, Thank you for taking the time to reply. I know it is not easy, but all I can do is try. When I was in college in Miami, FL, there were many people of "older" age giong back to school. I said back then that if needed, I'd return too!

Educational Opportunities?

 in response to Anora Eldorath...

Anora, Thanks for the advice and encouragement. I will persue that career path further. I am a volunteer in a recovery program, and see many with Chemical Addiction issues. Besides alcohol, "pain" pills, and crack cocaine are big problems here in the southern part of Florida.

Educational Opportunities?

O.K., Thanksgiving Day is over. Now the real "Thanksgiving" begins. Feeling a little down like me, well now think about what you ARE thankful for.

I am thankful for:

God, whose love and blessings keep me going!

My Church who is always there when I need love and guidedance.

My Sister & her family for their love and help in tough times.

My Country, the USA, where I am enjoying the freedom.

Educational Opportunities?

People often suggest that I "Go Back to School" to get a job. That is great, but when I do not have money to pay my bills, it is hard to find money to pay for school. I have a B.A. in Psychology that I got almost 30 yrs. ago. I have not been in school since. Well maybe if possible, I can go back and try for a "Certification" program. How about being a CAC, Certified Addictions Counselor, or possibly something in the medical field? I'll have to start looking into that!

Celebrate Recovery!

Come and Celebrate Recovery  at The Grace Place!

For ANY Hurt, Habit, or Hang Up!

The purpose of Celebrate Recovery is to fellowship and celebrate God's healing power in our lives through the 12 Steps of recovery and the "8 Recovery Principles" found in the Bible. This experience allows us to "be changed." By working and applying these Biblical principles, we begin to grow spiritually.  At Celebrate Recovery, Jesus Christ is our one and only higher power.

We become free from our addictive, compulsive, and dysfunctional behaviors. This freedom creates peace, serenity, joy, and most importantly, a stronger personal relationship with God and others. As we progress through the program we discover our personal, loving and forgiving Higher Power - Jesus Christ, the one and only true Higher Power.

Join us on any Tuesday evening in The Connection Center at 6:00 pm for a meal if your schedule permits. Our large group meeting begins at 7:00 pm with  praise and worship with our live band. Our Small groups start at 8:00 pm.  Small groups offered for Women are: Women's Drug & Alcohol Addictions, Women's Issues, Women's Food Issues, Women's Love and Relationship Addiction, and Co-dependent Women in a Relationship with a Sexually Addicted Man. Small groups offered for Men are:  Men's Drug & Alcohol Addictions, Men's Sexual Integrity Addiction, Men's Anger, and Men's Issues.  Crosstalk Cafe opens at 9:00 pm for dessert and fellowship.
